  • An estimated 36 million people—12.4% of the popu8lation—are 65 years and older.
  • By 2030, nearly 20% of the population will be 65 years and older.
  • The 65+ population, which was more than 36 million people in 2005, is projected to nearly double to more than 71 million people by7 2030.
  • The 85+ population, which was 5.1 million in 2005, is expected to nearly double to 9.6 million people by 2030.
  • Nearly 40% of women and about 20% of men 65 years and older were living alone in 2003.
  • In 2003, more than 1.8 million seniors age 65 years and older were treated in emergency departments for fall-related injuries and more than 421,000 were hospitalized.*

  • Nearly 25% of all American adults currently provide daily companionship or assistance to a parent or relative. *
  • The great majority of caregivers (83%) are helping relatives.
  • The typical family caregiver is a 46-year-old woman with at least some college experience who provides more than 20 hours of care each week to her mother. Many belong to the growing “sandwich generation,” caring for young families at the same time they care for their parents.
  • One in four caregivers (24%) say the person they care for lives with them.

  • More than one in three (37%) family caregivers say no one else provided unp0aid help to the person they were caring for during the past 12 months.
  • Nearly one in five caregivers (17%) provide more than 40 hours of care per week to a loved one.
  • About three in 10 caregivers (30%) need help keeping the person they are caring for safe.
  • The most frequently reported unmet needs of family caregivers are finding time for themselves (35%), managing emotional and physical stress (29%), and balancing work and family responsibilities (29%).

Home Instead Senior Care CAREGivers go through an extensive selection process which entails checking 6 references, an interview at our local office, and an orientation before they are placed with a client plus a thorough criminal background check.

All Home Instead Senior Care CAREGivers are bonded.

All Home Instead Senior Care CAREGivers are insured for liability. A copy of our insurance summary sheet will be provided upon request.

Do you provide Workman's Compensation for your employees in the event that they are hurt on the job?  back to top
All Home Instead Senior Care clients are protected in the event that a Home Instead Senior Care CAREGiver is injured on the job. If an accident occurs, the Workman's Compensation policy will cover loss of wages and injury that occurred on the job.

The fee at Home Instead Senior Care, which is billed every two weeks, is an "all-inclusive bill". It includes State, Federal and Local taxes and all contributions from Home Instead Senior Care.

What are the minimum hours of service your agency will provide?  back to top
Home Instead Senior Care recommends a minimum of three hours of service in order to provide socialization and adequate time to assist your loved one with any activities of daily living without rushing or hurrying them. To accommodate special circumstances we are happy to visit with you and your family about creating different hours of service.

Home Instead Senior Care is committed to making sure that continuity of care is our top priority. We do, however, see that the client will know more than one CAREGiver in the event the CAREGiver moves, gets sick or needs some time off.

Prior to utilizing Home Instead Care's service, we are happy to provide a "free assessment" to make sure that the client and our service will be a compatible fit and to answer any questions free of charge and without obligation to our senior clients and their families.

What happens in the event that our scheduled CAREGiver calls in sick?  back to top
Home Instead Senior Care believes in our commitment to fulfill all schedules. In the event of our CAREGivers becoming sick or unable to make their shift for any reason, we have many systems in place to insure that the clients who need our service have that need fulfilled.
